What are the symptoms of the flu?
You may have one or many of the symptoms of flu. Some of the flu symptoms that you may be experiencing are:
- Sore throat
- High temperature (pyrexia)
- I feel hot (fever)
- Persistent cough
- Muscle and joint aches and pains
- I feel sore all over
- Inflammation, swelling
- Headache
- Blocked or congested nose
- Tiredness (lethargy)
- Generally feeling unwell
- No energy
- Stuffy or blocked nose
- Coryza, runny nose
- Bloodshot eyes
- Heavy or difficult breathing
- Coughing (dry or chesty cough)
Some people with pandemic influenza have also reported vomiting and diarrhoea.
While most people with this influenza have had a relatively mild illness, which has lasted a week or less, some have had severe complications. It is important to keep a close watch on people with influenza and to seek medical advice if their condition deteriorates.
Some people are at greater risk of severe complications if they catch pandemic influenza, and these people should see their health care provider immediately if they develop flu symptoms. See "People at risk of severe outcomes" |
